He was born on October 7, 1933 in Terceira, Azores, Portugal to the late Jose and Florintina Freitas.
Joe married Maria De Silva on November 1, 1956; they had ten children together and have shared over 65 years of marriage.
In 1972, Joe came to Arizona from Portugal.
He is survived by his devoted wife Maria, eight children Eva (Phillip) McGough, Maria (Norbert) Martel, Richard (Marilyn) Freitas, Fatima (Vern) Dodson, Carlos Freitas, Dalbert Freitas, Elizabeth (Patrick) MacGillivray & Ricky (Alaina) Freitas, numerous grandchildren, many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and yes even a few great great great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents Joe was preceded in death by two children Paul Freitas and Mary Lou Ramos.
Family and friends are invited to a viewing on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 from 12-1PM with funeral services beginning at 1PM. Burial will follow in Resthaven Park Cemetery.
