Joseph Michael Danko, aged 65, passed away on May 28, 2026. He was born on July 14, 1960 in Phoenix to Sophie (Chavez) and John Danko. He was an eighth generation Arizonan as the Chavez family settled in the St. Johns area in 1866. The second oldest of five children, Joe enjoyed living in Phoenix with his brothers John and Jim; and sisters Joyce and Judith. Joe graduated as a Chief from Thunderbird High School in 1978. He studied and worked hard to become a Journeyman Electrician and was a member of the Electricians’ Union. His career in the industry spanned almost 50 years.
Joe spent many days exploring all corners of Arizona as an avid hunter, both rifle and bow, fisherman, and as a camper. He considered the rim country of northern Arizona to be truly his happy place. He found great solace and forged many lifelong friendships in the tall pines. He loved driving and exploring the 300 Road in his truck.
Joe embraced his Catholic faith. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #7465. He served the Knights as Grand Knight and District Deputy. He received Knight of the Year for his accomplishments and service.
Joe was a very proud Papa to his three grandchildren Elizabeth, Christopher and Jordan. He was very active in their lives and enjoyed their successes. His biggest disappointment is that he will not be present as they grow.
Joe is survived by his loving companion, Mary Kaczmarowski; father John (Nora); brothers John (Tina) and Jim; sisters Joyce (Bill) and Judith (JT); beloved daughters Jamie and Jennifer; grandchildren Elizabeth, Christopher, and Jordan. Also, a niece, nephews and many cousins. Joe was predeceased by his much adored mother, Sophie.
