Joyce Henry Henderson

Joyce H. Henderson, 75, of Sun City, Arizona passed away on November 10, 2022. She was born in Lobdell, Louisiana to the late Alvin and Harriet Henry. She grew up alongside her six sisters (Rose Glasper (dec.-Felton Glasper), Doris Mims (dec.-Leroy Mims), Faye Brown (Lionel), Sherry Smith (Roland), Barbara Moore (Charles), Deborah Ferdinand) & four brothers dec. Rev. Joe Trask (dec. Flavoria), Leonard Trask (Debra), dec. Alvin Henry (Ruby), dec. Alfred Henry (dec. Adlene). Joyce graduated from Cohn High School and earned a nursing degree at the Capital Area Trade School in Baton Rouge which was the only school in the state where Blacks could get nursing degrees in the 1960’s.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Albert J. Henderson. She leaves to cherish her memory children Albert Henderson of Baton Rouge, LA, Cary John Henderson of Miami, FL and Loretta (Michael) Cheeks of Peoria, AZ, grandchildren Carlos (Myricia) Crum, Ashton Cheeks, Kiara Henderson, Jordan (Latoya) Cheeks, Cary Henderson, Jr., Carrington (Kelsa) Henderson, Kallayah Henderson and Alani Joyce Henderson, great grandchildren Rosie, Amira, Harmony, Josiah, and Kassidy. Joyce also leaves to cherish her memory her nine brothers-and-sisters-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Joyce was a woman of great faith, great prayer, and loved Jesus and the word of God “Holy Bible.” She will be truly missed.

The family will celebrate her life on Monday, November 14, 2022 at 1:00PM at Resthaven Park Cemetery, 6450 W. Northern Avenue, Glendale, Arizona 85301.
