Kay Emig Fulghum, a passionate artist and steadfast believer in the power of creative expression, passed away on 3/28/26, leaving behind a legacy painted in color, texture, and boundless imagination.
From an early age, Kay saw the world not just as it was, but as it could be—alive with meaning, emotion, and beauty waiting to be revealed. Whether through brushstrokes, sculpture, printmaking, or mixed media, she dedicated a lifetime to exploring the depths of human experience and sharing it with others. Art was never just a practice; it was a way of living, seeing, and connecting.
Beyond the canvas, Kay cultivated a second family through both the library and the church, forming deep and lasting friendships that enriched her life. Those who knew Kay will remember her quick wit, gentle spirit, and deep compassion.
Kay was a widow to her late husband Michael Fulghum and is survived by two children Robert Emig and Julia Kennison, her brother Carl Keesling, and his son Logan Keesling, who will remember not only the art that she created but the kindness, curiosity, and passion that defined her life.
Though Kay’s hands are now at rest, the work remains—a testament to a life fully lived through creativity. In every piece, her spirit endures, reminding us to look closer, feel deeper, and never stop creating.
A memorial service will be held on April 3rd where family and friends will gather to celebrate a remarkable life.
