Ken was born on February 7, 1937 in Newark, Arkansas – son of the late Kenneth and Mary Lou Wright. He graduated from Flint Technical High School in Flint, Michigan in 1955, and served a year in the Michigan National Guard. He worked for the City of Flint, and retired as Street Superintendent after 25 years.
Ken was known for his kind spirit, generosity, quirky sense of humor, and unconditional love and support for his family. After his retirement and move to Arizona, Ken enjoyed spending his time jogging, playing basketball, and painting houses. He had an appreciation for the natural beauty of Arizona and took pleasure in hiking, fishing, and taking road trips to take in the scenery. His favorite destination was Greer, Arizona – a small, tranquil mountain town that he and Pat visited each summer. For many years, Ken visited his family in Michigan, catching up over home-cooked meals and card games.
Ken is survived by his wife of 61 years, Pat Wright, and their children: Kendra (Joe) Taylor, Jon (Olya) Wright, and Jef (Geneva) Wright. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Mark Wright, Lindsey Gillett, Kayleigh Keyes, Lauren Wall, Megan Williams, and Kelsey Williams, as well as four great-grandchildren: Kamden Keyes, Lincoln Wall, Annie Gillett, and Bennett Wall. Additionally, Ken is survived by his sister, Sharen (Wright) Smith, and a daughter from a previous marriage, Mindy Wright. Ken was preceded in death by his son, Scott Wright, and his sister, Mary Lou DiSessa.
It was Ken’s wish to have a private memorial service with his immediate family, which will be held on October 13, 2025. Flowers can be sent to the Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary in Glendale, Arizona. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Desert Southwest Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org/dsw.
