LaVerne ( Mahan) Weir, an Arizona native, passed away at her home in Glendale, Arizona on Saturday, September 19,2015 at the age of 81. LaVerne was born in Wickenburg, Arizona on April 7, 1934 and raised in Phoenix. She attended Phoenix Union High School and was a long time member of the Church of God located on Fillmore Street in Phoenix. She married the “love of her life” Jimmie E. Weir on April 28, 1951. He preceded her in death in October of 1996. LaVerne is survived by her two children, Dennis Weir and Jim Weir (and his wife Yvonne); four grandchildren, Justin and his fiancé Brittanny, Kevin, Amanda, Jordan and his wife Chanel. She loved God, her husband, her children, and her grandchildren, and she supported them and many others over the years with her love and prayers. She will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Stroke foundation. A graveside service will be held to honor her memory on September 24, 2015 at 9:30 AM location: Resthaven Park Cemetery 6450 West Northern Ave, Glendale, AZ 85301.
