Lawrence E. Marshall

Marshall, Lawrence "Larry" 88, of Goodyear, AZ passed away on June 8, 2015. A graduate of Thorton Fractional High School in Calumet City, Ill, in 1944 and a Navy veteran in the Pacific theatre in World War II, Larry was married to Marge Miller on June 18, 1949, in Yuma, Arizona. Later marrying Geri Hill on April 21,1992, in Hilo, Hawaii. Larry worked as a mechanic at Ford Motor company in Alamogordo, New Mexico and Sandwich, Illinois, later becoming an insurance adjuster for Allstate Insurance Company in Joliet, Ill. and Phoenix, AZ, until his retirement in 1990. Larry lived in Serena, Illinois, until he moved to Mesa, Arizona in 1979. Larry and Geri built their dream home in Goodyear, AZ in 1998 where he resided until his death. Larry and Geri enjoyed many travels. He enjoyed a 75 year friendship with Bill Gerkin of Sun City, AZ, home "handyman" projects, helping the kids in the neighborhood repair bicycles and home barbecues. He was a man that never new a stranger and always provided a ready smile and advising all to "keep smiling". Larry will be missed by all that knew and loved him. Larry is survived by his wife Geri, children Jerry (son) and Pam Marshall, Goodyear, AZ; Penny Marshall (daughter), Phoenix, AZ, Vicki Marshall (daughter), Green Valley, AZ, Jay Marshall (son), Ottawa, Ill, and Rick (son) and Genie Marshall, Norway, Ill. Step-children Karen Allen, Debbie Wilson, Jeff Hill all of Surprise, AZ and Randy Hill, Glendale, AZ. Grandchildren Brandi (grand-daughter) and Bryan Durell, St. Louis, MO, Tim Marshall (grandson) and Alyssa (fiance'), Philadelphia, PA, Derek Gause, US Marine, Carly Helms, Surprise, AZ, Lindsey Hill, Dallas, TX, Randy Hill, Jr, Glendale, AZ, Tovan Cooper, Glendale, AZ, Tanique Cooper, Surprise, AZ and great grandchildren Samantha Durell, St. Louis, MO, Isaiah Brown, Surprise, AZ, Mason Hill, Glendale, AZ, and Isabelle Helms Surprise, AZ. Nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews in Wisconsin, Texas, Georgia, and California. Services for Larry will be held at Chapel of the Chimes, 7924 N. 59th Ave, Glendale, AZ on June 16, 2015, at 2 pm.
