Clyattville, Georgia. At age 18, he met and married the love of his life, Nettie. In 1957, they packed up their 1952 Chevy Deluxe with their two
young daughters and headed off to Arizona in search of a bright new future (which included a third daughter).
After a couple of jobs, Ed started working for Holsum Bakery on the docks. When a truck driver position opened up, he decided to try it out. When he
retired in 1994, Ed was driving the longest semi allowed on the road at that time and had driven several million miles accident-free. After retiring from
Holsum, he worked part-time for the Phoenix School District and was a partner-in-crime with Nettie in charitable activities until his failing
health became an obstacle.
Ed loved to tinker with all things mechanical, building projects (together with Nettie, they built their own cabin), working on cars and spending time
with family, friends, and his dog Pug. He was a follower of Jesus Christ and his kindness, faithfulness, mischievousness, and sweet smile will be greatly
missed.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nettie; his children, Karen (John), Rebecca (Isaac), and Eva (Mark); his grandchildren, Benjamin (Brooke),
Nathan (Maria), Christopher (Veronica), Michael (Candace), Jeffery, Carrie (Paul), Johnny, and Sarah (Michael); his great-grandchildren, Leonardo,
Claire, Jordan, Teegan, Rebecca, Carter, Audrey, Mckale, Lincoln, Abel, Guinevere, Kayden, and Ivy; his siblings, Shirley, Betty, Jack and Joanne.
A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, November 10, 2015, at 10am at Light and Life Free Methodist Church, 15220 N 39th Ave, Phoenix, AZ
85053. A viewing will be held on Monday, November 9, 2015, from 6pm-8pm at Chapel of the Chimes, 7924 N 59th Ave, Glendale, AZ 85301. In honor of Ed,
