Maurine Ruth Fitzpatrick, of Phoenix, died peacefully on Saturday, April 9th. She was 90 years old. “Mickey,” as her friends called her, was a remarkable and loving woman. Born in small town in Iowa in 1926 to George A. and Stella D. (Kohlmeyer) White, she held strong and true to her Midwestern roots, manner and morals. She graduated from Drake University in 1948, with a degree in Physical Education. She married Lawrence “Mike” Fitzpatrick in 1950 and managed to raise their six children on a modest budget. She loved her family, her Parish and its Women’s Club, her friends and neighbors, and the family-built, log cabin in Forest Lakes, Arizona. She is survived by her sons, Patrick Fitzpatrick (Beth) of Green Valley, Arizona, William Fitzpatrick of Troutdale, Oregon, John Fitzpatrick (Rebecca) of Phoenix Arizona, James Fitzpatrick (Diane) of Canton Ohio, and a bevy of loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with nieces and nephews too numerous to mention. She was preceded in death by her husband, her only daughter, Sgt. Mary T. Fitzpatrick, USAF, ret., her son, Dennis Fitzpatrick, as well as her parents and her only sibling, Mavis Barker (William), of Tucson, Arizona. Mickey, her warm smile, firm hugs, and sharp wit, will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held at St. Louis the King Church on Saturday between 10:00 am and 11:00, with Mass immediately following.
