Mike was my friend for 40 years. We had our ups and downs but through it all we laughed. I probably have 1000 different stories about our adventures together. I will miss my buddy but I'm so happy our paths crossed all those years ago. R.I.P Mike

Well Mike I bet heaven knows you're there. We have been Friends forever. I met you when you were 4 years old and I was 6 years old.
 Your dad worked with my dad. We lived down the street from each other. And there was no Thunderbird road Peoria was one School. We've seen A lot and road motorcycles a few times together. I know You'll fit in heaven and probably have already made friends. That's your style. Try to tone it down cuz now you met your match. I don't know what goes on in heaven till I get there, but I'm sure you'll Figure it out like you always do. I'll look you up when I get there. Until then Sorry for your loss to his family but if you pay attention I believe you will be able to hear Mike, he will do things to let you know he's there. He will never leave the house his Dad built. Your gonna be OK now Mike.      Conni

Sweetheart , I thought I was ready for this . But I was wrong ,I’m not . I miss you so much .I miss you in the morning ,when I wake up your not there . I miss you in the night .when I go to bed you’re not there. I miss you all day . I have to say Cathhyyy in my head cuz I need to hear it .I’m so glad you have  no more pain. But that’s the only thing I’m glad about. I hated seeing you in pain like that. I wish I could have taken better care of you .after 17 years we had a few ups and downs but I have  and  will always love you and I know I’ll see you again until then RIP sweetheart  your always in my heart ❤️ Michael and Tyler your dad was so proud of both of you and Gerry ( mom) you were mikes world he loved you dearly . I only knew Mike for about 6 years. He brought lots of laughter with a bit of grumpiness to my life. His loud voice and his larger than life  personality would light up any room. Beneath that tough exterior was a man with a heart of gold. He loved his boys , his Mom and of course his angel Cathy. On any day you could find Mike at home cracking jokes or giving his candid opinion about something keeping us all on our toes. I have no doubt his name will be in conversations around this town for many years to come.

My dear condolences to Michael’s sons and his girlfriend, Kathy. 
It was great getting to know Michael on my trips to Arizona.  He and I would talk about our days working on rigs off the Louisiana coast and compare wonderful stories. Longing for those younger days. 
Michael  has now left this earth and no longer in pain. Thank God!

Sorry to have learned of your loss. Like Rick, I also have fond memories of Mike.  I always looked forward to seeing my cousins from Arizona visiting our family.  Mike and I would sit on the porch AKA "Veranda Beach" at 644 Grant Street in Buffalo playing punch bug.  We would also play baseball in the backyard while Grandpa napped on the hammock.  Mike was a strapping good looking guy in the day. May he rest in peace.

Sending my deepest condolences on the passing of my cousin Mike. Although we were distant, I have fond memories of Mike at family reunions. When we were kids family reunions were at Grandma Stahlman‘s house in Buffalo. Mike and I were the same age so we would play, fight and get into trouble together. Later in life, the reunions were in Phoenix. When I was stationed at Luke Air Force Base, we would often get together. May his soul find eternal peace.

In Loving Memory of My Father

It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to my father, Mike Portwood. To know him was to love him—and to laugh with him. My dad had a gift for bringing humor and lightness into every moment. His laughter was infectious, and his unique sense of humor could brighten even the darkest days.

Dad’s greatest joy was his family. My brother Tyler and I always knew how deeply he loved us, not just through his words but through his actions. Whether it was the way he supported us, cheered us on, or just shared a quiet moment, he was always there.

Some of my most cherished memories are the times we spent together at Grandma’s house during family gatherings. Those moments were filled with laughter, stories, and the kind of love that only a close family can share. I’ll miss those times more than words can say.

The Ranch was another special place for us, a sanctuary where we made memories and enjoyed the peace of life outdoors. And in recent years, sitting in his room with Tyler, just hanging out and enjoying each other’s company, became a simple yet meaningful ritual that I will forever treasure.

Dad, you were a rock in our lives, a source of joy, and a reminder of the importance of family and laughter. Your absence leaves a hole that can never be filled, but your love and the memories we shared will stay with us always.

In memory of our Mike who passed away after a long struggle with cancer and MS.  While his life was at times marked by hardship and pain, it's important to acknowledge the challenges he faced and the complex legacy he leaves behind.  My  heart go out to his sons, his girlfriend Kathy and to his mother who loved her son unconditionally.
