Olivia Murrieta

Olivia Murrieta, age 86, from Tolleson, Arizona, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2022, surrounded by her family. Olivia was born on October 1, 1936, in what is now El Mirage, Arizona, to Ramon and Angelita Rosales.

Olivia graduated from Peoria High School and Lamson Business College. She was employed by El Mirage Town Hall as a bookkeeper and police officer. She also acted as Magistrate, taking the judge's seat to hear cases. She also worked at the office of Dr. Lopez where she developed lifelong friendships with her coworkers and patients. She met her husband, David Murrieta, in 1959. They married in 1963 and raised 6 children together. She devoted her life to raising her children and cherished every moment with her family. she enjoyed cooking her family's favorite dishes and was well known for her pastries (which were often requested for church fiestas and fundraisers). She was a devout parishioner at Blessed Sacrament Church and she instilled a love for her Catholic faith within her family.

Olivia is survived by her husband, David, and her children: David Murrieta, Jr. (Norma), Diana Murrieta, Eddie Murrieta, Patricia Torres (Roman), Gabriel Murrieta (Monica), and Jose Murrieta (Dejia), along with her brothers, Ruben Rosales (Frances) and Ray Rosales (Hilda), as well as 13 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved sister, Carolina Hernandez.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, from 5:00-9:00 PM with a rosary service at 6:00 PM at West Resthaven Funeral Home (6450 W. Northern Ave, Glendale, AZ 85301). A funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at Blessed Sacrament Church (512 N. 93rd Ave, Tolleson, AZ 85353). A burial at Resthaven Park Cemetery will follow the service.
