Ramon “Ray” Soto Favela, 92, of Phoenix, Arizona joined our heavenly Father on Thursday, April 30, 2020 at Thunderbird Medical Center in Glendale, Arizona. Ramon was born in Mesquite, New Mexico on January 7, 1928 to Francisco and Guadalupe (Soto) Favela, one of 11 children. He moved to Tolleson, Arizona in 1945 where he met his beautiful wife Eloisa whom he married on October 19, 1947.
Ramon leaves behind his wife of 72 years and only true love Eloisa; his six children Alicia, Ramon, Rachel (Rudy), Frank (Maria), Rudy (Gloria), and Veronica (Chris); 19 Grandchildren and 26 Great Grandchildren; his brothers Santos and Salvador Favela; sisters Rosa Flores and Lupe Stremel Favela.
He is preceded in death by his sisters Manuela Dominguez, Frances Rodriguez, Connie Cervantes and brothers Isauro, Alvino and Freddy Favela; and Son-in law Ramon Gomez.
Ramon worked for the Consolidated Water Company from January 1954 to July 1962, then transferred to the City of Phoenix Water Services. Ramon became a Water Service Foreman for the City of Phoenix Water Services Department where he proudly retired after 40 plus years of excellent service. He enjoyed working and the camaraderie. Ramon was a devoted husband, father, friend and parishioner of Saint Vincent DePaul, where he served many years at daily Mass. Ramon always put God, family and friendships above all else. He loved vacationing to Rocky Point and various other Mexican destinations, the many Laughlin trips, and up and down the coast of California. He enjoyed laughing with friends, Ramon loved music and dancing the jitter bug with his wife at family parties, or just spending time with his family at his beautiful home he was so proud of. Ramon was an avid walker. He could be seen walking the neighborhood, and in his later years walking Desert Sky Mall. He rarely missed a step. He will be missed by all.
A private service will be held for Ramon at Chapel of the Chimes and laid to rest at Resthaven Park Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Ramon at a later date when it is safe to do so.
