

Richard William Meller, known affectionately as Rick to his family, passed away on March 2, 2025, at the age of 29. Born in Phoenix on August 1, 1995, Richard was a faithful and devoted Catholic who was beloved by all who knew him. He was a cherished son, brother, uncle, grandson, cousin and friend, remembered for his compassionate, honest, kind-hearted, and thoughtful nature.
Richard graduated in 2013 from North Pointe Preparatory School in Phoenix. He pursued a career in aviation, earning his Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate and joining the apprenticeship program with Southwest Airlines working towards becoming an aviation maintenance technician. Richard had worked with Southwest for over five years, where his dedication and skill were highly valued.
Richard is survived by his loving parents, Lisa and Samuel Meller, sister Patricia Cerqueira and her husband Andrew, and brother Daniel Meller and his fiancée Rebecca Willis. He was a proud uncle to his nephews, Ezra and Wesley. Richard is also survived by his grandmother, Patti Skarup, his aunt, Melissa Skarup, and his cousin, Brianna Skarup, along with her son, Tyler Langley.
A member of Ss. Simon and Jude Cathedral, Richard's faith was an integral part of his life. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in his honor at Ss. Simon & Jude Cathedral, located at 6351 North 27th Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona, 85017, on March 17, 2025, at 10:00 am.
Rick's life, though brief, was filled with love, kindness, and a deep commitment to his faith and family. He will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
