

Robert “Bob” Eugene Allen passed away peacefully at home on February 22, 2025, at the age of 93. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, on November 6, 1931, Bob was the beloved son of John and Mary Elizabeth Allen. Bob was a good-natured, hard-working, and resilient man with a likable personality and endearing wit.
Bob joined the United States Air Force as a young man in 1951. He was stationed in Alaska, Nevada, England, and Goose Bay, Labrador, but spent most of his time in California and Plattsburgh, New York. Bob was a dedicated airman and enjoyed playing football during his early years in the Air Force. In 1955, Bob met beautiful Ernestine Walker at a party in Reno, Nevada. While Bob was stationed in England, Ernestine joined him there and they would later marry on January 31, 1957. They had two daughters and eventually moved back to the United States where the family traveled across the country several times and spent summer vacations visiting family. Bob and Ernestine enjoyed playing cards with friends and participated in bowling leagues for many years. Bob retired from the Air Force as a Staff Sargeant after 20 years of service and the family moved to Arizona. Bob valued his time as an airman and proudly wore his Air Force hat most of the time. He continued his service to the community by working for the United States Postal Service where he gained respect as a shop steward. He was later promoted to Supervisor where he managed the dock to keep the mail moving. Bob was a member of the National Association of Postal Supervisors and is remembered as an exceptional trainer and an excellent motivator who encouraged many employees to excel, which led to advancement in their careers. Bob retired after more than 20 years with the Postal Service and in retirement, enjoyed going on road trips and having fun at the casino every so often. Bob was a member of the Greater Progressive Christian Church in Phoenix, Arizona.
Bob is survived by his two daughters, Sherry Allen and Yvonne Allen, his sister Alma Jean Posey and nieces Kim Taylor and Dina Posey. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ernestine, his parents and many aunts and uncles.
A committal service with full military honors will be held at Resthaven Park Cemetery, located at 6450 West Northern Avenue, Glendale, Arizona, 85301. The service is scheduled for Thursday, March 6, 2025, at 12:00 pm. Bob's legacy will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved him.
