Roy Dee Hamilton Sr.

Roy Dee Hamilton, Sr, 72, of Glendale, AZ passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2021. He passed away surrounded by his son and daughter talking about their favorite memories of him. He put up a brave 3-year battle with cancer.

Roy was adopted as a young boy and raised by Dean and Waldena Hamilton. He moved to Arizona in 1978. Later in life he was reunited with his birth mother, Nancy Daymude and siblings.

On October 28, 1967, Roy married Nancy Cary. She preceded him in death on September 10, 2015. He later married DeAun “Deedee” Decker. They have shared over 6 years of marriage.

An electrician by trade, Roy was a proud and dedicated member of IBEW Local 640 for over 40 years. Roy Sr. made an impact and touched many lives all across the nation and even over-seas, as he worked on many different projects. Wherever he went, Roy Sr. represented Local 640 in Phoenix, Az. well. Roy Sr. retired as an officer of the Local 640 Union Hall in March of 2015.

Roy Sr. loved his family and was a devoted father, always involved and encouraging in his children’s endeavors from coaching Roy Jr’s Little League baseball and soccer teams to being involved with all of Trina’s dance, gymnastics, and cheer squad activities over the years.

As time went on, Roy Sr. became a grandfather of 4 and his 4 grandchildren were fortunate enough to spend many amazing times together with their Grandpa/Papa, as he loved them so much and was able to watch them grow over the years. They loved to hear his stories and spend time with him at birthdays, holidays, and many of their school and other activities.

Roy Sr. is survived by his wife Deedee Decker, son Roy Hamilton Jr. and wife Jayme, daughter Trina Steele and husband Jeff; grandchildren Kylie Hamilton, Braedon Hamilton, Jordin Steele, and Tiphany Steele; siblings Linda, Jeff, Robert, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Roy Sr. was preceded in death by his adopted parents, his birth parents, his wife Nancy Hamilton, brothers Charles and Clark, and sister Susie.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 2:00pm – 6:00pm at the IBEW Local 640 Union Hall – 5808 N. 7th St., Phoenix, AZ 85014. There will be plenty of food and drinks and many memories and stories will be shared.
