

He leaves his wife of 65 years, Helen Janette (Timmons) Hodges; his daughter, Donetta Kay (Hodges) Hiser and her Husband Bob Neal Hiser; his son, Michael Dwane Hodges and his wife Sara Hodges; His three grandchildren Kyle Michael Hiser, Chad Jeremy Hiser and MIchael Lee Hodges; His six great grandchildren Madison Lynne Hiser, Haley Anne Hiser, Ava Marie Hiser, Connor Michael Hiser, Tyler James Hiser, and Abraham Mihailo Hodges; and many close friends Including Darlene and Bill Smith. He was welcomed Home by his Parents, his brothers and sister and his beloved first great-grandchild, Carter Neal Hiser.
Born in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma, Dwane was the son of Albert Ross Hodges and Edna Virginia (Williams) Hodges. Eventually Dwane made his way to Arizona where he met his wife Helen Janette (Timmons) Hodges and started their family.
At a young age, Dwane, his mother, father five brothers and two sisters had to migrate west from Oklahoma in search of work during the Dustbowl and Great Depression. They spent several years in New Mexico harvesting cotton and working agriculture, eventually leading them to Arizona where Dwane spent the rest of his life. He met his wife, Helen Janette Timmons, at church In Phoenix, Arizona. They were married in 1950. In 1951, he joined the U.S. ARMY, where he was a mechanic and received a National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal.
After serving with the U.S. ARMY, Mr. Hodges began work for Reynolds Aluminum factory as a press operator. He worked at Reynolds for 31 years before finally retiring February 21, 1983. He was well respected by his family and friends for his hard work and dedication. Dwane loved his family and friends dearly. Family was his legacy. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His home was a place of comfort and rest for all who entered it.
Dwane was a longtime maker of things. He was known for his ability to come up with ideas that would make life easier for others. His creative innovations (like his homemade fruit picker) were a trademark along with his joy of baking. Everyone who knew Dwane, knew his butterscotch, chocolate chip and peanut butter cookies. There was always a bag of homemade cookies on the counter; he got a lot of satisfaction from people enjoying themselves in his company.
Dwane will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
There will be a gathering at Chapel of the Chimes (7924 North 59th Avenue Glendale, Arizona 85301) on Saturday, March 5th , 2016 from 9:00 am. to 10:30 am.
The reception will follow at 12:00 pm. at Helen and Dwane’s home (10530 West Saratoga Circle Sun City, AZ 85351) food and drinks will be provided.
Monday, March 7th, 2016 there will be a flag ceremony at The National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona (23029 N Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85024) at 9:30 am.
