Beloved Phrases Dad Used to Say:
To anyone who would come to the house – “Entran al lo barrido” Welcome into the swept area.
When someone would get into trouble here in the US. He would say – “Mexico, ven por tu gente” Mexico, come get your people.
Looking down our neighborhood street – “Esta es la calle de los Artistas” This is the street of the stars.
“En este mundo todo se acaba” In this world everything comes to an end.
“Gracias y mas frijoles” Thank you and more beans. (Don’t really know what he meant by that)
He would always say the famous Mexican singer, Lola Beltran was our aunt.
Dad loved to watch western movies. He loved to watch The Rifleman as well as Chuck Norris “Walker Texas Ranger” or “El Mapiodor” as he called him. He also enjoyed the Andy Griffith show and would call Barney Fife – “El Flacito”
