Sharon was born in Kentucky on November 11, 1953. She was the middle of 7 children in her family of four girls (Pat, Linda, Diane, Sharon) and four boys (Fred, Matt, Tommy). She attended school in Phoenix, AZ. During this time she met and then married Dennis Funk and later gave birth to her only son Jason who she has always said was her “greatest achievement”. She later married Rick Hagen who she was married to until his death.
Sharon spent most of her life working in the paper and printing industry. She absolutely loved office lunch visits from her daughter-in-law Amy and her two grandchildren Greysen and Hannah and would take such great pride and joy in showing the babies off to her co-workers.
She had a soul full of kindness, generosity, and thoughtfulness often at the expense of her own needs but she wouldn’t have had it otherwise. She enjoyed crafts and her beloved “Music Room”. Jason remembers her flank steak dinners, homemade bread, and the song Mercedes Benz by Janis Joplin that she loved to sing to him when he was young. She had a deep, belly laugh that would force you to join in.
Sharon passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of June 5, 2023 with her niece Dawn, who was like a daughter to her and her best friend, by her side. Dawn was an angel and huge help to both Sharon and Jason especially during Sharon’s final week of life.
Sharon is preceded in death by her husband Rick and four of her siblings, Diane, Linda, Matt, and Tommy. Sharon is survived by her son Jason, daughter-in-law Amy, two grandchildren Greysen and Hannah, two siblings Pat and Fred, and several nieces and nephews.
Her wish was to be cremated and a celebration of life will be held privately.
Sharon had so much love in her heart and she will be deeply missed.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.ChapeloftheChimesMortuary.com for the Hagen family.
