SUSAN BENNETT FOULKS passed away June 11, 2015, in Glendale, Arizona. She was born September 30, 1953, in Hartford City, Indiana, to Jane Ellen Bennett and Lloyd Francis Bennett. Susan was the oldest of three children with two brothers, Cecil Robert Bennett and Jeffrey Rhodes Bennett. Growing up, Susan developed a sense of caring and giving, tending to the many scrapes her younger brothers got into from riding all of their motorized toys.
Susan was a longtime resident of Arizona, having moved from Indiana after graduating from Ball State University with a degree in Journalism and working as an editor for a small Indiana town newspaper. From an early age, she developed a strong bond to the written word, having her Maternal Grandfather read to her as a child. It is noted by many who knew her that Susan could never pass a bookstore without entering and her voracious nature to which she read through books was second to none.
Of the many things Susan was known for, it was her calm demeanor and quiet strength, her love of a good party, a good Vodka Martini, Mac-n-cheese with Fried Chicken, a good book with tea and scone on a rainy day, her precious laugh and her angelic voice. She is survived by her mother, Jane; her brother, Jeffrey, and her Husband, Alan, who always walked hand in hand with her because it kept him connected to the best friend he ever had.
Services will be held at a later date in a Celebration of Life, surrounded by mirth and wit to which Susan would have approved. “I love you in a place where there is no space or time, I love you for my life, You are a friend of mine, And when my life is over, Remember when we were together” Leon Russell
