

Walter Eugene Carney, 83, departed from this life July 13, 2020. The son of Andrew and Willie May Carney was born on September 24, 1936 in Bellaire, Ohio. Retiring from Williams Air Force Base in 1977, Walter then resided in Arizona for the remainder of his fulfilling life.
TSGT Carney was a veteran of the United States Air Force of twenty plus years and was awarded numerous awards, certifications, and medals. He began his service in Alaska, traveled extensively, and had three tours of duty abroad (Italy, the Philippines, and an isolated tour in Thailand). Walter was also stationed and served stateside at: McGuire AFB in New Jersey, MacDill AFB in Florida, and as previously mentioned, retired from Williams AFB in Arizona.
Walter is preceded in death by his siblings: Donald Carney, Delores Roseberry, Andrew Carney, James Carney, and the recent passing of their youngest brother, William Carney.
Walter is survived by four children (and spouses): June A. Carney, Yolanda G. Carney (Lonnie), Andrea J. Yarbrough (Chickie), JoAnn Clarke, Sean A. Carney, Taj K. Carney, and Christena White-Collins. His four grandchildren: India J. Carney, Kayla Yarbrough, Me’lan Yarbrough, and Melvin “Christopher-Taylor” Yarbrough. His two great grandchildren: Royce A. Carney, Skylar M. Flanagan, and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank everyone that has sent their condolences and shown support during this difficult time. This has been a reminder of the impact that Walter had on so many lives. May his lessons and memories live on.
