

Bill was born to the late Elmer and Mary Hill in Dewey, OK and this is where he spent his childhood. During his childhood he obtained the nickname “Billy Bob” which stuck his entire life. His favorite things were spending time with family, the Boston Red Sox, and Miller Lite.
Bill joined the United States Air Force in 1953 where he was an Aircraft mechanic and Crew Chief. Throughout his years he was able to see the world. Bill spent 3 tours in Vietnam and was hurt on duty many times. He retired from the USAF in 1973 after serving his country for 20 years.
Though his travels were great, his greatest assignment was Luke AFB in Glendale, AZ where he met and married the love of his life in 1958, Norma Lee Hill. Norma already had three daughters: Charlene, Eileen, and Martha who Bill accepted with open arms. Bill and Norma had a daughter, Mary in 1958. Bill and Norma were married just shy of 50 years when Norma passed in 2008.
Bill is preceded in death by his wife Norma Lee Hill, step daughter Charlene Johnson, both parents, two brothers, and one sister.
Bill is survived by his brother DeWayne Hill of Amarillo, TX, his sister Kristy Swalley of Copan, OK, his daughter Mary Hill-Williamson (Vester Williamson) of Columbus, MS, step daughters Eileen Woodland and Martha Schrock both of Glendale, AZ, granddaughters Erinn Benge (Todd Benge) of Columbus, MS and Erica Everett of Phoenix, AZ, along with step grandchildren Robert Johnson (Kerri Johnson) of Glendale, AZ, Melissa Woodland of Flagstaff, AZ, Kari Cromer of Phoenix, AZ, as well as 13 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
Bill’s visitation and graveside service will be held at West Resthaven Funeral Home and Cemetery at 6450 W. Northern Ave Glendale, AZ 85301 on Thursday, October 28, 2021 with a graveside service to follow.
