

Willis Earle Caldwell, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, peacefully departed this world on August 29, 2023, at the age of 97, due to heart problems, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on March 22nd, 1926, in Booneville, Iowa, Willis brought light and joy to countless lives.The cherished son of Edgar K Caldwell and Carrie V Caldwell, he was the beloved middle child among 12 siblings. As the last surviving member of his immediate family, he embodied strength and resilience.
A social soul, Willis found solace in creative pursuits. His love for crochet, cross-stitch, and baking revealed an artistic spirit that filled his home with warmth and delight.
Family was his heart and soul. Radiating love and kindness, Willis deeply cherished his time with his son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren. His sharp mind and boundless love created an unbreakable bond that will forever keep him alive in their hearts.
Willis' hunger for knowledge was evident in his passion for puzzles and reading, keeping him engaged in the world until his last breath. His dedication to others was mirrored in his 43-year nursing career. He served as a nurse at Broadlawns Medical Center and Mercy Medical Center, reflecting his deep commitment to his patients' well-being. He often spoke of his time at Mercy as a memory he would cherish forever—a reflection of his deep commitment to his patients' well-being.
Willis was preceded in passing by his cherished wife of 48 years, Mildred Frances Caldwell. In addition to his immediate family, Willis was a nurturing foster father to Michael Glenn Stemler, who passed away before him.Their bond went beyond blood.
A devoted Christian, Willis found serenity in the embrace of nature. He found inspiration in the beauty of flowers, especially violets, and a special connection with animals. His artistic flair captured the wonders of nature. His legacy shines through the lives he touched, the hearts he warmed, and the memories he created. He is lovingly remembered by his devoted family, including his son, daughter-in-law,
cherished grandchildren, and an extended circle of family and friends who were truly blessed to know him.
