Maggie was born on November 13, 1958 in Los Angeles to Delia Raymond and Charles Francis Meyer. Maggie’s childhood was filled with adventure being the 2nd youngest of 8 – Dee Dee, Carl, Georgie, Mary, Peggy, Therese, and Fred. She made lifelong friendships at Malbrough School with the class of 1976. At the age of 16, she met the love of her life, Armand Leo Walling, Jr., who she married on August 14, 1976. And in December of 1976 they welcomed their baby girl, Anne Margaret. Armand and Maggie started their life together in Glendale, and in 1981 they moved to Saugus, California where they met neighbors and lifelong friends the Aardahls, Bolin/Kellys, Samways, Meadows, and Saads, and in that same year, Maggie and Armand welcomed a second baby girl Megan Meyer. Three years later in 1984, Allison Mary-Bridget, a third baby girl, made her arrival.
Maggie was a stay at home mom to her three girls – a job that she was meant to do. Her compassion, love for everyone, bubbly personality, and contagious smile caused any one she met to instantly love her.
In her free time, Maggie volunteered as a teacher of CCD, a member of the PTA, helping out at school and for field trips, and helping any one in any way that she could. She enjoyed psychology and took classes at College of the Canyons. She was active and enjoyed playing on both a girls’ league and a co-ed softball league that she played with her hubby. Maggie especially loved coaching and watching her daughters play sports, and as their biggest cheerleader, she once even traveled to both San Diego and Santa Barbara in one day to watch 2 of her girls play. Her loved of sewing shined through the beautiful Halloween costumes she sewed for her girls, as well as the home decorations she created, and the beautiful quilts she made. Maggie had an avid sweet tooth, and she especially enjoyed ice cream and had been known to blow dry her mouth after eating too much ice cream. Her love of sweets showed through her amazing baking skills, and she was known in her family for her famous fresh baked chocolate chip cookies served over ice cream. Not only was she a great baker, but she was a fantastic cook serving her family favorites like her unmatched fettuccine Alfredo and breaded chicken, yummy Chinese Chicken Salad, and her heart shaped meatloaf that she served every Valentine’s day.
In 1998 while horseback riding, Maggie fell off a horse and suffered a serve head injury. Visitors flooded the waiting room at the hospital showing love and support for Maggie and her family. Because of her injuries, Maggie moved into Villa Scalabrini, a wonderful long term care facility in Sun Valley where her husband spent his evenings feeding her dinner and spending time with his beautiful wife. Although Maggie wasn’t able to walk or talk, she still was able to communicate through her contagious smile, and she laughed at the same jokes, flirted with her husband, and her face lit up when she saw her many family and friends that visited. She was able to attend her daughters’ graduations and weddings, met her son-in-laws (Jordan Maertz, Suren Wijeyaratne, and Nathan Steele), and met and held her grand babies, Maisie Ann Maertz, Jaxon, Kenneth Maertz, Isla Margaret Wijeyaratne, Jett Richmond Maertz, and Nathan Christopher Steele, Jr.
16 years after her accident, she got an infection that her body was too weak to fight, and she took her last breath with her husband, daughters, and her sister Georgie holding her hands.
