Alfred James Taillon, aged 87, passed away at his home surrounded by loved ones on August 17, 2025. Born on September 8, 1937, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Arthur Sr. and Bertha Anderson Taillon. Alfred was a 1956 graduate of Gonzales High School, owner of Taillon’s Auto Parts and a dedicated Plant Operator at Ormet for 38 years. He was a member of the Army National Guard and US Army Reserve. He loved being at his camp in Belle River fishing and spending time with his family. When he wasn’t fishing, you could find him at the casino on Friday nights, frying fish for his family, or fiddling in the garage. To those he called family or friend, or really anyone in need, he was willing to give you anything he had and lend a helping hand. Alfred lived his life to the fullest and spent it with the people he loved the most. He leaves behind his wife of 68 years, Arlene Gautreau Taillon, his daughters Elinda Taillon (Clarence Brock) and Holly (Craig) Wolverton; brothers Arthur Jr., (Connie) Taillon, Wally (Rita) Taillon; sister-in-law Brenda Taillon; grandchildren Cody (Britne) Edmonston, Chase (Kelli) Braud, Jordy (Ashley) Poche, Morgan (Kaleb) Moran, Megan (Matthew) Simoneaux, Maya and Ava Wolverton. He was a proud great-grandfather to Cullen and Lane Edmonston, Landry and Norah Kate Braud, and Presley and Payton Poche. He was a cherished uncle to a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur Sr. and Bertha Anderson Taillon; brother Gilbert Taillon, and beloved daughter Tammy Marie Edmonston. The family would like to send their heartfelt gratitude to Baton Rouge General Hospital, Baton Rouge General Rehab Center, Pinnacle Hospice Care, and Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center. Special thanks to his amazing doctors, Dr. Daniel Lavie, Dr. Paul Walker, Dr. Boyd Helm, and Dr. Vince Cataldo for their compassion.
