

Alfred E White, Sr. a native of Pride, LA and resident of Prairieville, LA passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at the age of 73. Alfred was a loving husband, father, and paw, who loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He always enjoyed daily phone calls with Chester and Deloris McComas, and Pearl Scott, whom he considered to be his brother and sisters. He retired from Kaiser Aluminum in Gramercy after 41 ½ years of service. Alfred was active in Jefferson Baptist Church with his special mission being to prepare the coffee. He served the vacation bible school with recreation and also assisted with numerous construction projects at church. Alfred had a deep love for the Lord and was committed to reading his Daily Devotional till his last day. He loved his Sunday School class and Fellowship with his church family. Alfred loved serving his community through the Rebuilding Together Organization. When Alfred was not assisting his church community, he could be found working in his barn or in his yard. He was a member of White Vine Hunting Club and an avid hunter for 40 years, where he spent time away from home on .30-06 Heavenly Lane in Morganza, LA. Alfred is survived by his loving wife of over 56 years, Wanda Cook White; sons, Alfred E White, Jr. and wife, Janet, Michael E White and wife, Wanda Caston, Jason E White and wife, Emily; grandchildren, Ashley, Michael Jr., and Kayden; sisters, Myrtice Flowers, Ferriel David, Yvonne Landry, Wanze Faye Durbin, Carolyn Bond, Barbara Reeves; brother, David White. Alfred is preceded in death by his parents, Elisha and Jesse Saxton White; mother and father-in-law, John and Mazie Cook; brothers, Tommy Lloyd White, Sr. and G.B. White; sister, Annieree Martin; brother and sister-in-law, James L. and Margaret Cook. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Jefferson Baptist Church (9135 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA 70809) from 10:00 am until funeral service at 1:00 pm officiated by Dr. Tommy C. French Jr. and Dr. David Goza. Interment will follow at Galilee Baptist Church Cemetery (11050 Greenwell Springs Port Hudson Rd, Zachary, LA 70791). Alfred E White, Jr., Michael E White, Jason E White, Michael E White Jr., David White, Daniel Delaune, Patrick Frazier, and Chester McComas will serve as pallbearers. Neil Wagoner, Bobby Fowler, and Archie Browning will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Bienvenu and his staff at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center and the Hope House in New Orleans, as well as Audubon Hospice. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Alfred's name to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center to aid with cancer research or the Hope House in New Orleans.
