Austin Brian Kiernan, 22, passed away Thursday 05/18/17 in Sorrento, LA as a result of an automobile accident. Austin was employed by Western Rivers as a deckhand working on the Mississippi River, the river he loved. He was working toward attaining his crew boat license and eventually his captains tug boat license. Austin attended St. Amant schools. He was a gifted athlete excelling in baseball and football. As he grew older, he was happiest in the woods hunting or in a boat fishing. His heart was as big as the fishing tales he told. When Austin was your friend you knew that he always ‘had your back’. He was a sweet, caring, compassionate young man. Always willing to help, share more than he should and give all that he could. He will be missed so very much by all of his family and friends but the angels in heaven are singing to have him there with them. He is survived by his mother, Tiffany Wheat Kiernan; father, Patrick Brian Kiernan; brother, Ducote Kiernan; sisters, Lindsey Kiernan, Samantha Lea Jagneaux, Jimmie Danielle Elliot; nieces, Kynzli Anders, Candance Davis, Cecilia Elliot; nephews, Zander Davis, Kameron Massey, Chance Elliot; paternal grandparents, Judy and Wilfred Schexnaydre of Prairieville; paternal great-grandmother, Irene Smith of Mississippi; maternal grandparents, Julia Paulette Floyd and the late Gerald (Doodie) Wheat; great grandparents, Jewell Smith Floyd-Mims and the late Ernest King Floyd. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday 05/24/17 from 5PM – 9PM at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales continuing Thursday 05/25/17 from 9AM until service at 11AM.
