Calvin John Hebert, age 63, and a lifelong resident of Colyell, La. passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024, from a lengthy battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family and many friends. He was a faithful member of Colyell Baptist Church where he took great joy in working in the sound booth. He also enjoyed woodworking and fishing. Calvin graduated from French Settlement High School in 1978. He worked at Bayou Steel for 30 plus years and then worked 3 years at Plant Machine Works in Baton Rouge, La where he retired. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Elizabeth “Betsy” Deen Hebert; mother, Jean Ferguson Hebert; sister, Sandra Watts (Tinker); brothers, Lonnie Hebert, and Darrin Hebert (Sherry); sisters-in-law, Jill Morrow (Ray), Rebecca Spears (Mike), and brother-in-law, Derek Deen (April); and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Leon P. Hebert; sister, Debbie Hebert; father and mother-in-law, Rev. Oliver and Melda Deen; and sister-in-law, Lynette Shaffett. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, from 5 pm – 8 pm and on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, from 8 am until the funeral service at 10 am at Colyell Baptist Church, 19524 Hwy 42, Livingston, La. Funeral services will be conducted by Bro Jeremy Glascock and Bro Shain Picou. Burial will be in the Colyell Community Cemetery.
