A loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, Cecil Mack Nethken, age 76, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and served aboard the CV-63 USS Kitty Hawk. After being honorably discharged from active duty in 1967, Cecil began a lifelong career as a refractory mason, traveling the country with his wife and children before settling down in Prairieville, LA. Known for his quick wit and tall tales, he enjoyed drinking coffee with his wife and neighbors, fishing with his sons, and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Linda McLamb Nethken; sons, Steven L. Nethken (Melanie) and Cecil A. “Tony” Nethken (Rachael); 5 grandchildren, Jordyn Manuel (Zachory), Camryn Nethken, Savannah Nethken, Hunter Nethken, and Zachary Nethken; 2 great grandchildren, Joleigh Manuel and Cecil Fernandez; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 13, 2022, from 9:00am until 11:00am at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales followed by a service at 11:00am. The burial will follow at Hope Haven Garden of Memory in Gonzales, LA. Pallbearers will be his sons and grandsons.
