Daniel Joseph Berteau

Daniel J. Berteau passed away on Dec. 5, 2020. A memorial visitation will be held on December 16, 2020 at Ourso Funeral Home of Gonzales from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm with a memorial service beginning at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow at Louisiana National Cemetery. Daniel was working as a mechanic. He was an avid hunter and loved to fish. He proudly served in the U.S. Army as a “Chinook Dog”. He never met a stranger and he had such an infectious laugh that all you could do was join in. He loved and treasured his friends and family. Daniel is preceded in death by his parents Francis James Berteau and Barbara Ann Breaux Berteau. Daniel survived by his wife Delsie Theresa Berteau, daughter Taylor Bessinger, and sisters Catherine Berteau, Denise Finley, and Frances Schmit. He had 6 nephews, 3 nieces, and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. He truly loved his life and all it had to offer. He is irreplaceable and will be sorely missed.
