On Sunday, May 11, 2025, Daniel Simon, a devoted husband, cherished father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at the age of 85. Born in Kaplan, Louisiana, on June 13, 1939, Daniel lived a full and generous life rooted in family, faith, and hard work.
Daniel graduated from Indian Bayou High School as Valedictorian and went on to become the top graduation recruit for the US Navy. He built a successful career in industrial sales and management, working with Turner Industries at Nichols Construction. Ambitious and entrepreneurial, he went on to play a key role in building Service Rental, where he served as Senior Vice President — a role that reflected his leadership, determination, and strong work ethic.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Daniel was deeply involved in his community. He was an active member of both the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion, organizations that mirrored his values of service and camaraderie. In his leisure time, Daniel found great joy tending to his yard, playing golf, and watching sports — especially his beloved LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints. He never missed a game, and his enthusiasm for football was matched only by his dedication to his family.
At the heart of Daniel’s life was his unwavering love for those closest to him. He treasured moments spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His life was a testament to loyalty, generosity, and unconditional love — especially for his beloved wife, Hilda, with whom he shared a beautiful 61 year journey of marriage and partnership.
Daniel is survived by his wife, Hilda Simon; his daughters, Marla Lowery (Troy), Nicole Ducharme (Greg), Trina Brignac (Wade), and Phala Sutton (Charles “Bud” Vicknair); his grandchildren, Cody Lowery (Abigail), Chelsey Lowery, Mallory Hanley (Zach), Lindsey Ducharme, Matthew Brignac, Hillary Brignac, Addison Brignac, Logan Ganaway (Jade), and Laci Sutton; and his great-grandchildren, Levi Lowery, Addison Hanley, Sawyer Hanley, and Charlotte Hanley.
He is preceded in death by his parents, August and Angelle Simon; and his siblings, Norris Simon and Mildred Doucet.
