Darwin Joseph “Joe” Fontenot, a native of Ville Platte and resident of Gonzales passed away on Monday, June 19, 2017 at the age of 77. Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who was a friend to many and loved by all. He served in the U.S. Air Force and after retiring from Exxon Mobile, pursued his love and passion for the outdoors including commercial fishing. Joe is survived by his loving wife, Peggy D. Fontenot; children, Tamera Fontenot, Gilbert Fontenot and wife, Van, Dale Griffin, Andrew Griffin; grandchildren, Daryl, Dustin, Nicholas, and Isabella; great grandchild, Nataleigh; Mother-in-law, Edna - Danos. Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Lula Fontenot and sister, Carol Guillory. Visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home of Gonzales on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 from 5 pm until a Memorial Service celebrating Joe’s life at 7pm.
