Dolores “Dolly” Babin Rouyea, a native of St. Amant, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on October 16, 2021, at the age of 78. She was a retired bus driver for Ascension Parish Schools with 27 years of service. She was small but mighty and selfless beyond measure. She was a hard worker and kept a pristine home and yard all her life. More than anything, she loved her family. She was very proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved speaking of them among family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, John Rouyea; children, Mitzi Bates, Brad Rouyea (Mandi), Lisa Melancon (Rickey), Tina Gautreau (Mike); grandchildren, Sarah Paul, Kayla Bates, Ben Bates, D’Nea Millet, Kayne Rouyea, Landon Rouyea, Judd Rouyea, Brandi Harrell, Ryan Melancon, Chase Melancon, Garett Melancon, Bryce Gautreau, Claire Gautreau; 15 great- grandchildren; sisters, Patsy Gautreau, Lucy Richey, Sherry Borne. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilson “Gro” and Pearl Bourgeois Babin; brother, Claude Babin; great- grandson, Gabriel Thomas Melancon. The family would like to offer special thanks to Kim and Danny Boudreaux, Rita Cannon, Amedisys Hospice, and Home Instead-Chantelle, Frenchgernitta, Selena, and Terra. Visitation will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Amant on Saturday, October 23, 2021 beginning at 9AM, Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11AM. Burial will follow at the church mausoleum. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
