Doris Marie Berthelot Melancon

A resident of Gonzales, she passed away on Monday, March 8, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was 82 and a retired seamstress from Louisiana Garment Factory. Visisting will be at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales on Wednesday, March 10 from 5 pm to 9 pm and will resume on Thursday from 9 am until noon. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, Gonzales at 12:30 pm, with Rev. Boby Alex officiating. Entombment to follow in Hope Haven Mausoleum, Gonzales. She is survived by one daughter and son in law, Melanie Berthelot and husband Mike of St. Amant; 3 sons and daughters in law, Olin and Trella Berthelot, Gilly and Janie Berthelot and Johnny and Paula Berthelot all of Gonzales; a sister and brother in law, Ruby and Nelson P. “Ninny” Roth, Sr.; 12 grandchildren, Jamie Lambert, Brent Berthelot, Janna Gautreaux, Shelley Gomez, Jancy Amedee, Kelley Banker, Brandon Berthelot, Brad Berthelot, Jacie Cedotal, Justin Berthelot, Jada Berthelot, and Jalea Berthelot. She is also survived by a step daughter, Sharon Braud; step son, Ralph Melancon and his wife, Valerie; 4 step grandchildren, Ty Braud, Bryan Braud, Heath Melancon, and Paige Dixon; and 24 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Herbert J. Melancon, J.O. Berthelot, and George Corcoran; step son in law, Benny Braud; parents, Armand and Lillian Hebert; sisters, Hilda Graham, Wilma Arceneaux, Alma Millet and brothers, A.J. Hebert, Jr., Windom Hebert and Wilman Hebert. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Brent Berthelot, Brandon Berthelot, Brad Berthelot, and Justin Berthelot; nephews, Ricky Roth, Nelson “Snoop” Roth, Jr., and Mike Hebert; and a great nephew, Johnny Dearmond.
