Douglas Leonard Crotty Jr.

Douglas Leonard Crotty, Jr., “Sluggo” was born on October 22nd, 1945 and passed away on June 6th, 2017 at the age of 71. He was a native of Garyville and a resident of St. Amant. Doug is survived by his mother, Gertrude Crotty Duhe’; beloved wife of 38 years, Tammy Furr Crotty; father of Melissa Crotty Amato (Donovan) and Douglas Crotty III (Ashley); proud PawPaw of Dustin Montelius (Courtney), Darian Montelius (Alexis), Donavan Laiche, Addison Amato, Grayson, Hudson and Emerson Crotty; and great-grandchild Chance Montelius. He is also survived by his siblings Harriet Duhe’ Melancon (Timmy), Harris Paul Duhe’ (Roxanne) and sister-in-law Sharon Purifoy (Terry). Doug was a loving uncle to several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Douglas L. Crotty, Sr.; stepfather Harris Joseph Duhe’;brother Duane Cecil Crotty and mother-in-law Jannell Horn. Doug was retired from BASF. He was a member of the St. James Boat Club and the Bayou Terrace HOA architectural control committee. He was a member of St. Joseph Church in French Settlement. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandson as well as spending time at this camp in Dulac fishing and shrimping. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 11th at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Highway in Gonzales from 4:00PM until 8:00PM. Visitation will resume at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 15710 LA Highway 16 in French Settlement on Monday, June 12th from 9:00AM until mass of Christian burial at 11:00AM. Private burial at a later date. Pallbearers will be Doug Crotty, III, Dustin Montelius, Donavan Laiche, Harris Duhe’, Timmy Melancon, Sr., Tim Melancon, Jr, Nathan Crotty and Donovan Amato. Honorary pallbearers will be Grayson Crotty, Hudson Crotty, Darian Montelius and Chance Montelius. Ourso Funeral Home of Gonzales in charge of arrangements.
