A native and resident of Gonzales, Ed passed away on Monday, September 9, 2013 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 69 and a veteran of the Louisiana Army National Guard. He was an employee of Shell Chemical for 35 years and in that time he served as an instrumentation/electrical supervisor and inspector. Visiting will be at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales on Wednesday, September 11 from 5 pm to 9 pm. Visiting will resume at the funeral home on Thursday from 9 am until funeral services at 11 am, Fr. Rubin Reynolds, officiating. Burial to follow in Hope Haven Cemetery, Gonzales. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Joycelyn Duvernay Bateman; daughter, Angela Bateman Moran; sons, Stephen Paul Bateman, Scott Anthony Bateman, and Brian Matthew Bateman and his wife, Aaron Waguespack Bateman; grandchildren, Alexis, Aleah, Brady, and Brandt Bateman and Jake and Jada Moran; and a sister, Linda Bateman Zimmer of Plano, TX. He was preceded in death by his father, John Russell Bateman, Sr. and mother, Pauline DeArmond Boudreaux; a sister, Beryl Faye Bateman; and brothers, John Russell Bateman, Jr., Carle Eugene Bateman, Sr. Pallbearers will be Stephen, Scott, and Brian Bateman, Mark and Wayne Berthelot, Joey Langley, Jake Moran, and Dustin Haydel. Ed was an avid fisherman, cook and gardener, he loved his Blues and Rock n Roll music, and wood and metal working in his home shops.
