Erwin Eugene Johnston

A beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, he passed away at his home in Lafayette on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at the age of 92. He was born in New Orleans and then moved to Baton Rouge in 1953. While in New Orleans he attended St. Stephen School and from the ages of 14 to 17 he attended St. Vincent Minor Seminary School in Illinois. He was a retired manager from Winn-Dixie. He is survived by his children, Patricia Kilam and husband George of St. John, FL; Donna Miller and husband, Scott of Lafayette; Michael Johnston and wife, Debbie of Gonzales; and Susan Olivari and husband, Mark of Saluda, NC. He was also survived by eleven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, sister in law, Ethel Johnston; a brother in law, Jimmy Stafford; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Mary Risey Johnston of New Orleans; daughter, Sheri Ann Johnston; wife, Margie Stafford Johnston; sisters, Thelma Mackie, Muriel Johnston and Mary Putnam; brothers, Andrew Johnston, Johnny Johnston, Alfred Johnston, and Lawrence Johnston. There will be a memorial visitation at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales on Sunday, July 12, 2015 from 10:00 am until the service at 11:00 am. A reception will immediately follow in the funeral home reception room. We would like to thank his nieces Patty and Mary for their care and love. We love you and pray for you, mom, and Sheri to be together.
