Evelyn Duplessis

A lifetime resident of Prairieville, she passed away on Aug. 14, 2011 at Baton Rouge General Bluebonnet. A loving mother and homemaker, she was 87. She loved spending time with her family and gardening. She is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Babin and husband Randy; two sons, Karon Duplessis and wife Julie, and Jack Duplessis and wife Donna; a sister, Janette Aiken; eight grandchildren, Tammy Nickens Billeaudeaux, Brady Nickens, John Duplessis, Reggie Duplessis, Todd Duplessis, Shantelle Whealton, Chairity Waugh, and Chase Duplessis; 11 great grandchildren, Harley and Blakely Smith, Mandy and Seth Gomon, Deshara and Bralee Nickens, Isabella and Elisha Duplessis, Kirsten Gautreau, and Connell and Phelan Whealton; and one great-great grandchild, Beck. She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Ida Melancon Delaune; her husband, Leon V. Duplessis; and a brother, Kearney Delaune. A visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011 from 5 pm until 9 pm. Visitation will resume at Ourso Funeral Home on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011 at 8 am until funeral services at 10 am, with Bro. Bobby Ready officiating. Pallbearers are John, Reggie, Todd, and Chase Duplessis, Brady Nickens, and Mike Waugh.
