Floyd Gruewaldt Melancon, Jr. known to many as "Floyd Jr”. A resident of Gonzales and a native of Baton Rouge, LA. Floyd, Jr. died at home with his wife and their best friend by his side at the age of 84.
Floyd Jr. is survived by his wife and soulmate, Lucille Templet Melancon of 47 years. He is also survived by four special family members, Daniel and Meagan Templet along with their children, Floyd Jr’s girls, KK and Kenna Templet. He is also survived by his Step- mother, Jean Melancon Crawford and a host of family members and friends who loved him dearly; along with his "coffee buddy” Johnny Berthelot.
Floyd, Jr. was preceded in death by his best friend, Phillip "Soup" Clark; Aunt, Willa Melancon Harrell; Mother, Albertha Melancon; Father, Floyd Melancon, Sr; Sister and Brother-in-law, Cecile and Kenneth Watts; Nephew, Brooks Templet; and Niece, Shasta Wheat.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at St. Mark's Catholic Church from 9:00a.m. - 11:00 a.m. with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Interment will be at Hope Haven Cemetery in Gonzales, LA. The pallbearers will be his nephews and the honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Berthelot, Robert Philippe, Joe Templet and Buryl Kuhl.
