

Gene Gonzales, 85, of Prairieville, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025, at 8:15 p.m. in Baton Rouge. He was born on July 10, 1940, in Gonzales, Louisiana, to Burton and Bertha Holland Gonzales.
Gene was a proud graduate of Gonzales High School and went on to build a dedicated 33-year career with Rubicon Chemical, where he served as a supervisor. As a Marine Corps veteran, he served his country with honor and carried that same strength, discipline, and humility throughout his life.
A charter member of Ascension Baptist Church, Gene devoted many years of service to his church community and lived out his faith with integrity and generosity.
Gene married the love of his life, Pat Lambert Gonzales, and together they shared a lifetime of devotion, family, and enduring love. He cherished his role as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and his gentle spirit and steady presence will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife, Pat Lambert Gonzales; his children Tonia Gonzales, Carolyn Keller (Kenny), and Robert Madere (Roblyn); his grandchildren Courtney Gonzales, Jamal Gonzales, Roxanna Madere, Kirby Keller, and Trish Little; and thirteen great-grandchildren: Kade and Sage Spears, Wes, Kate, and Brooks Keller, Addie, Brock and Claire Little, Kamani and Serenity Gonzales, Londynn Nelson, Max Magee, and Maximus Magee; along with two great-great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his siblings: brother Burton Gonzales (Jane) and sister-in-law Barbara Gonzales, as well as many extended family members and friends who will forever remember his kindness and steady warmth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Burton and Bertha Gonzales; his brothers Alfred (Joan) Gonzales and Sam Gonzales; and other beloved family members who welcomed him home.
Pallbearers will be Kirby Keller, Wes Keller, Randy Gonzales, Wade Gonzales, Greg Gonzales, and Teddy Gonzales. Honorary pallbearers are Kade Spears, Sage Spears, Brock Little, and Brooks Keller.
Visitation will be held at Ascension Baptist Church, Airline Highway, Gonzales, Louisiana, on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 11:30 a.m., conducted by Rev. Keith Crider, with interment to follow at Hope Haven Cemetery, Highway 30, Gonzales, Louisiana.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ascension Baptist Church Building Program in Gene’s memory.
Gene lived a life defined by quiet strength, faithful service, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy will continue through the generations he helped shape, and he will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
