Gerald Louis "Jerry" Babin

A devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, Jerry passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2015. He was 81 and a resident of St. Amant. Jerry was born in New Orleans and graduated from Jesuit High School and Delgado Community College. He also attended LSU. Jerry proudly served as a U.S. Air Force Pilot where he received the Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star, Air Medal with 8 Oak Leaf Clusters, and Vietnam Honor Medal 1st Class. After his many years of service he began his career as an Electronics Technician with the Orleans Parish School Board. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Carolynn Davis Babin; children, Lori Babin Walsh (Jeff), Sharon Babin Cedotal (Greg) and Rev. Ken Babin (Priscilla); grandchildren, Shannon Walsh Thomas (Mike), Sean Walsh, Renee', Naomi, Chloe, and Joey Babin; sister, Brenda Babin Toepfer; sister in law, Gaynell and John Althans; in-laws, Barbara, Doug, Pete, and niece and nephews, Kevin and Jane Althans, and Keith, Scott, Michael, and David Toepfer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cyril "Rhoddy" and Catherine Brown Babin. A memorial visitation will be held on Monday, December 28, 2015 at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales from 4 pm to 8 pm.
