Gerald "Jerry" Wayne Acosta

GONZALES – Funeral Services will be conducted for Gerald “Jerry” Wayne Acosta, age 64 , at 11:00 am Tuesday, June 24 , 2014 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Prairieville with Fr. Eric Gyan officiating. Interment will be held at Hope Haven Cemetery in Prairieville with military honors.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Monday, June 23, 2014 at Ourso Funeral Home. Visitation will resume at 10:00 am on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church until service time.

A native of Sorrento and a resident of Prairieville, Jerry passed away on Friday June 20, 2014.

He is survived by his wife, June LeBlanc Acosta; daughter, Tammy Acosta Brock; sons, Troy Acosta and wife Amy and Terry Acosta; sister, Donna Billingsley and husband Patrick; brother, Roger Dale Acosta, Sr. and wife Scharlene; grandchildren, Dylan Brock, Dawson Brock, Cody, Caylee, Anna Grace, and Maddox Acosta and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert and Vera Mire Acosta.

Pallbearers will be Troy Acosta, Terry Acosta, Eric Billingsley, Chet Billingsley, Dylan Brock, Cody Acosta, Roger Acosta, Jr., and Dawson Brock.

Jerry lived for his family and for music. He was a singer and musician in many local bands starting at the age of nine when he and his brother, Roger, formed the Rocking Robins. He served in the USAF as a 1st chair trumpeter and played many USO tours. He was a loving husband and father and was adored by his grandchildren. He loved to support his grandchildren with their sports and dance. He always loved to spend time with his family on vacation and on the beach.
