

Hulbert McClure "Bert" Lott, previously a longtime resident of Ascension parish and currently a resident of Gloster, MS, and a native of Oakland, CA, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2024. Bert lived a life marked by dedication and passion. He worked as a Chemical Plant Process Operator and Trainer, sharing his expertise and mentoring others in his field. Bert was a proud graduate and high school valedictorian of Georgetown High School, Class of 1973 in Georgetown, LA, where he also earned awards for his achievements in forestry. His interests included wildlife photography, writing poetry, fishing, and hunting. He was known for his deep love of nature and the arts, which he pursued with great enthusiasm throughout his life. Bert was a man of faith who was a wonderful example God's love to those around him. Bert participated in many church missions throughout the years, both in the U.S. and out, helping those in need, sharing God's love, making lasting friendships, and setting an example for so many. He will be greatly missed. He is preceded in death by his father, Doyle Lott; mother, Mildred Lott; sister, JoAnn Brandle; as well as his paternal grandparents, Dock and Mabel Lott, and maternal grandparents, Ed and Ella McClure. Bert is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Diane Hawk Lott "Tricia"; his daughter, Heather Lynn (Cody) Lott Clouatre; his sons, David Wayne (Laura) Lott and John Michael (Tanya) Lott; his brother, Willard “Bill” (LeeAnne) Potter; and his grandchildren, Garett Templeton, Alexander Lott, Mason Sanders, Gavin Langlois, Austin Lott, Philip Lott, and Jacob (Olivia) Lott. He is also survived by his great-grandson, Elijah White; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, numerous other family members. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Bert’s doctors for the extra 14 years of life they helped provide, and to the medical staff at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital and the Baton Rouge General Mid-City Hospital “Butterfly Wing” Hospice Facility for their compassionate care in his final days. Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service to honor Bert’s life being held at Union Church, 5443 Mullins Rd., Gloster, MS 39638 on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 2PM. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Bert’s life at a visitation to be held at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Hwy., Gonzales, LA, on Sunday, August 11, 2024, from 1 PM to 3 PM, followed by a service at 3 PM.
