A resident of Sorrento, he was born Jan. 18, 1950, and died Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010. He is survived by his only daughter, Shannie Smith Ancale, and her husband, Wayne; grandchildren, Bianca and Cooper Ancale; sisters, Blenda Knowles and Sherrie Krause; and brothers, Larry Smith and Hershell Smith Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hershell Sr. and Isabell Rodrequez Smith. He was a simple man who loved to fish, tend to his garden and boil crawfish and crabs.
