

After living a full life of 80 years, Janice passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2010. Born on June 11, 1929 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, she was the daughter of Genevieve Kleinpeter and Alfred A. Persac. Janice was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy and attended LSU. In June of 1964 she and her husband Paul, moved their family from New Orleans to Ascension Parish to operate Pay-Less Supermarket on Burnside Avenue. Janice and Paul were owners of Pay-Less Supermarkets and Janice LeBlanc’s Hallmark stores. Janice participated in many community activities in the Gonzales area. She was a former president of the Gonzales Garden Club. She was a member of the Jambalaya Festival Association, the Mardi Gras Krewe at the Gonzales Country Club, and the Krewe of Mid City in New Orleans where she reigned as Queen. She took her love of Mardi Gras from New Orleans to Gonzales to Washington, D.C. where her costume designs were enjoyed by all. She was a member of the Baton Rouge Art League, a charter member of the Bengal Belles, an active member of the LSU Alumni Association, as well as, a Traveling Tiger. She designed many costumes throughout the years for her daughters and granddaughters. She loved her weekly bouree game, her bowling league, Theatre, traveling the world, and attending any and all activities involving her grandchildren. She followed and supported her children, grandchildren and great grand children in all their endeavors including dance recitals, sporting events, and school activities. She was the best “Gamma”! She had a great sense of humor, the ability to tell a story or funny joke, and shared her southern charm and hospitality with everyone she met. She was the life of the party and shared many recipes with family and friends, especially her famous crawfish dip. She is survived by her five children and their spouses: Jan LeBlanc Cox and Van Cox, Michael Paul LeBlanc, Jr., Judy LeBlanc Marchand and Wayne Marchand, Darlene and Randy LeBlanc, and Diane and Marcy LeBlanc. Grandchildren: Holly Davis and husband Greg, Heidi Burris and husband Bob, Hilary Weaver, Loren Cox, Kyle Cox, Robert Marchand and wife Meredith, Michael Marchand and wife Crystal, Lindsey Marchand, Brooke LeBlanc Knight and husband Alex, Brittney LeBlanc, M.J. LeBlanc, Matthew LeBlanc, and Lee LeBlanc. Great Grandchildren: Marianna Davis, Julia Davis, Paul Burris, Beau Burris, Olivia Weaver, Henry Weaver, Noah Marchand, and Hays Knight. She is also survived by her sisters, Marjorie Belou and husband William, Genevieve Persac, her brother Gordon Persac, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, M. Paul LeBlanc Sr., her son Leonard Clement LeBlanc, her parents, and her brothers Fr. Louis Persac, Robert Persac, and Malcolm Persac, and her sister, Joyce Cooper. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and grandson’s-in-law. Visitation will be held at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church in Gonzales, Louisiana on Friday, May 28, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in Hope Haven Garden of Memory. The family would like to thank the friends of Janice for the love and kindness shown to their Mother. Memorial contributions may be made to the M.
