Janssen Joseph Kling

He is survived by his wife of 33 ½ years, Jessie R. Dykes Gay Kling, 2 daughters, Sherri Stevens and husband Brett Stevens of St. Amant, and Terry Shankle of Schriever, 3 step children, Alton Ray Gay and wife Reba Gay of Denham Springs, Robert Gay and wife Teresa Gay of Annandale, VA, Rose Mary Avery and husband Glenn Avery of Baton Rouge, sister Agnes Gautreaux and husband Luke Gautreax of Gonzales, 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and a number of cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leona Braud Kling, and Floriant "Bully" Kling and grandparents, Euloge and Emma Kling and Ernest and Irene Braud.

Visitation will be at New Life Church located at 365 Staring Lane, Baton Rouge, LA 70808 from 5 to 10 pm on Thursday, September 6th, and 8 am until religious services at 2 pm on Friday, September 7th. Pallbearers will be Glenn Avery, Brett Stevens, Bill Clark, Don Hays, Aaron Bache, Adam Bache, Don Elbourne, and Joe Corona. Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of the Prairieville Fire Dept.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his name to New Life Church. The Prairieville Volunteer Fire Department will escort him from the New Life Church to St. John Catholic Church Cemetery, Hwy 73 and Duplessis Road. He loved to fish, hunt, camp, garden, and help others. He worked for Gonzales Tire Company for over 40 years. He was daytime fireman and custodian for 12 years and helped build the first firehouse in Prairieville. He was a volunteer auxiliary fireman until his death. He volunteered for Feed a Family Program in Prairieville when it first got started and still did so with his wife Jessie. He was a member of EASL since its inception. He attended Dutchtown School. The Kling family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Hospice of B.R. and the staff at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital.
