Whenever Jeremy, "JT”, walked into the room, those in his company felt energy, an enthusiastic spontaneity. This was just one example of who Jeremy was and how he influenced those around him. Jeremy was a clever and gregarious person who always looked for the best qualities in other people. It was as if Jeremy wanted to share all of their experiences, revel in their lives and celebrate their discoveries. Jeremy was tireless and had boundless enthusiasm that would serve him well throughout his life. Jeremy was born on November 26, 1990 at Southern Baptist Hospital, in New Orleans, LA. He was the son of Melissa and Keith Traylor. He was raised in Slidell, LA. Always at the ready with a good joke, he grew up to be quite a humorous person. Jeremy was someone his friends could depend on when they needed him. He would go out of his way to help his friends no matter what was at stake. His friends and family truly loved him! He was an inspiration to many. While some who knew JT might describe him as an idealist, his friends and family understood well that he was always in pursuit of life’s endless possibilities and opportunities available to him. Jeremy was raised with an older sister, Melanie. Jeremy was very accepting and supportive of his family. He saw himself as the protector of his sister and his mother. He called himself proudly, a "mama's boy. His father was his true best friend, his "hero". Whenever discord or tension arose within the home, Jeremy sought out a way to bring about resolution and harmony. These traits served him well throughout his life and, along with his wit, outgoing personality, and understanding of others, drew the admiration of many who knew him. As a young boy, Jeremy was able to empathize and identify with a lot of different people and personality types. He had the ability to find enjoyment with almost any activity he and the many childhood friends he shared might discover. This quality drew him into a diverse group of friends and acquaintances. Jeremy was intelligent and had little trouble getting along with his peers. He was almost always the first to jump in when it came to playing games or participating in other childhood activities. JT took part in soccer and football. He was great at football. In his spare time he liked just hanging out with his friends. Jeremy's memorable achievements included at the age of 4 being a piano protégé and winning the honorable mention at the Northshore piano competition in Slidell. His other memorable achievements also included being in an HBO movie and getting two roles on Nickelodeon and Disney. His most significant accomplishments were becoming sober and graduating high school after a tough battle with drug addiction. During his high school years, JT responded eagerly to any new project and was regularly in search of one adventure after another. He graduated from Dutchtown High School on May 13, 2009. Jeremy was an excellent student, and generally did well in his courses. However, school often became just an extension of playtime, thanks to his ability to turn just about anything into a game and his natural humor. Classmates considered JT a good listener, knowing that when necessary, they could go to him to discuss just about anything. His favorite class in high school was his 12 grade Spanish class. His favorite teacher of all time was his 8th grade teacher, Mrs. Leger. He gave her such a hard time, but he loved her and respected her greatly because she didn't tolerate his bull, and she gave it right back to him! Jeremy's accomplishments in high school would be receiving a pin every year for having above a 3.5 GPA and finally in his senior year getting his academic jacket for having above a 3.5 GPA all through high school. He also received a full 4 year Scholarship to Tulane University in New Orleans. Jeremy had a talent for making acquaintances easily, which in turn brought him an endless stream of friends. JT was very sociable and could blend without effort into any social group. Assertive and outgoing, Jeremy was easy to know and demonstrated a deep concern for others. He always seemed aware of what was going on with people around him and throughout his life he made many, many friends. While growing up, some of his best friends were Evan Marlatt, Andrew Torrey, A. J. Gerhold, Laura Leblanc, Lance McKinney, Matt, Patrick, Jacob Bollingham, Jacob Parsons, Wesley Carlino, Cruz, Brennan, Jay, Cade, Trace, Big Wes, Kevin, Robin Gordon, and His father above all. Jeremy played football in his freshman year of high school. He was also something of a sports fan and enjoyed watching his favorite sports whenever he got the opportunity. Tops on his list were the NEW ORLEANS SAINTS and of course being in Baton Rouge, the LSU TIGERS FOOTBALL! GEAUX TIGERS! Jeremy's creativty and resourcefulness, earned him many accolades. One of his most prestigious awards included “Who's Who Among America's High School Students”. JT's love of improvising in his daily life was a perfect fit for his enjoyment of traveling. Excited about seeing the world and meeting new people and constantly looking for the enjoyment life could offer, JT took his vacations seriously, well, as seriously as he possibly could. Favorite vacations included going Cancun with his friend, Jordan and then to Las Vegas and Disney World with his family. Jeremy was a lover of animals and had many different types of pets, including his infamous Bearded Lizards and snakes. He had his "Monty-dog" for 6 years, whom he loved. Then he had his beloved Boston Terrier, Ace, whom he raised from a puppy of 6 weeks to his best friend for the last 3 years. There was always a certain style and inventiveness to Jeremy. He was a dynamic, self-expressive person who was forever looking to live life to the fullest He had a knack for being clever, creative and witty, and for others, was a joy to be around. While he was often fiercely independent, it seemed as if many others looked to JT for inspiration, leadership, wisdom and even courage. JT was always more than willing to share life’s experiences with the ones he loved. Jeremy Traylor passed away too early in life and unexpectedly on May 20, 2009.
