Jerry Joseph Babin Sr.

A native and resident of Gonzales, LA, passed away on Friday, March 02, 2018. Jerry was born June 26, 1951 to Lionel "Boogie" and Betty Babin. His greatest pride beyond his loving family was the United States Marine Corp. Having served in the Merchant Marines and the USMC, he received the Cross of Gallantry (Vietnam) and the Purple Heart. He is survived by his father, Lionel "Boogie" Babin; daughters: Miranda Anderson and husband David, and Nevada Card and husband Donald; sons: Jerry Babin Jr and wife Samantha, Joe Funk and wife Tonya, and Mike Funk; sisters: Glenda Wolfe, Candis Klug, Marilyn Babin, Pamela Lamb, and Monica McCasland; brother Eugene Babin; 17 grandchildren: Trisha Wooten, Victoria Garver, Madison Garver, Jonathan Littlefield, Emma Card, Ian Card, Rodney Weaver, Keagan Weaver, Grayson Funk, Austin Funk, Morgan Funk, Malerie Funk, Cheyenne Hall, Devin Babin, Christine Fant, Courtney Haydel, Sara Halker, Blake Anderson and Brooke Pettit; great grandchildren: Bently, Braxton, Isabella, Aubree, Eli, Ezra, Brendan, Liam, Greyson, Julianna, Jayden and Joseph. He is preceded in death by his mother Betty Babin Gill; nephews: Jason Gautreaux, Peyton Coxe and Brandon Alcorn. Visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales on Monday, March 5, 2018 from 5pm until 9pm and continuing on March 6, 2018 from 9am until service time at 11am. Interment will follow in the Louisiana National Cemetery at 1:30pm. Pallbearers will be Cody Thompson, Donald Card, Joe Funk, Ashton Cox, Jonathan Littlefield, Jerry Babin, Johnathan "Bump" Gautreaux, and Tommy Bonaventure. Honorary pallbearers will be Justin Gautreaux, David Anderson and Eugene Babin. The family would like to thank the Carpenter's House and St. Joseph's Hospice for their loving care of Jerry.
