

John C. Winkles, 76, passed away March 7, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. John was born in Cedartown, Georgia to J.C. and Nancy Worsham Winkles. John loved hunting, fishing, spending time with family, maintaining his yard and visiting with neighbors on his riding lawn mower. John was a member of the Caledonia Masonic Lodge # 121 F&AM of Cedartown where he was both Scottish Rite and a Shriner. Johnny worked many years as an electrician in the industrial field where he made many friends and was well-known as “Papa John.”
Survivors include his beloved wife and soulmate of 60 years, Jimmie (Lou) Winkles, his daughters; Suzanne Philippe, Happi Scivicque and husband Lawrence, Lynda Crystal and husband Jonas, his brother; Ray E. Gilley, his grandchildren; Lane Borskey and spouse Lesly, Robert Burch and spouse Tabitha, Haley Nassif and spouse Gregory, Katie Hunter and spouse Ryan, Jordan Borskey and spouse Brooke, Lauren Andrews and spouse Trevor, Abby Braud and spouse Damon, Reese Crystal and Marley Crystal and 15 great grandchildren. Mr. Winkles was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters; Kathleen Boatner and Ludie Barnett, his in-laws; Thomas B. and Elma Head and his brother-in-law Tommy Head.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons and grandsons-in-law.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital and the doctors and staff in the MICU Unit at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center.
Visitation will be Friday March 10, 2017 at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales starting at 9 am until his funeral service at 11am. Rev. Wayne Talley will officiate and the eulogy will be delivered by his nephew Bill Garmon. After the celebration of his life, burial will follow at Serenity Oaks Cemetery in Prairieville.
