Joseph “Joey” Thad Cheatham passed away at his home on June 8, 2023 at the age of 62. He was a native of Baton Rouge, LA and a longtime resident of Livingston, LA. Joey graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1978. He went on to serve in the US Army, where he was recognized for his sharpshooter skills in both the rifle and hand grenade. He would eventually become skilled in the trade of welding, from which he retired. Joey is survived by his mother Carmen Blanchard, his mother-in-law Rosalie Robertson, his loving wife Arlene Robertson Cheatham; his five children, Angela Simmons (Ray), Pamela Odom, Jessica Willis (Cole), Michael Cheatham (Taylor) and Rebecca Hooge (Chris), and his eight grandchildren, Allie, Keira, Randi, Olivia, Kylie, Carson, Carolyn and Lillian. He is also survived by his brother-in-laws, David Robertson (Sandy) and Edward Robertson (Felicia) and numerous nieces, nephews and family members. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Ruth and Bill Carter, his father-in-law Archie Robertson and his son-in-law Dwayne Odom. Joey was always making new friends everywhere he went; there were no strangers, just friends he had not met yet. While stationed in Ft. Hood he became close friends with the Hyden family and has remained close family friends through the years. He was the most lighthearted and outgoing person. Joey enjoyed playing cards, listening to music and dancing. He liked to spend his afternoons sitting outside watching the different animals and his grandchildren play. His love for his family was immeasurable, a love that will be cherished by them dearly. Joey’s heart of gold and warm smile will be greatly missed by many. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation held on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Hwy, Gonzales, Louisiana 70737, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.
