Joyce Lorraine G. Gautreau, a native of Baton Rouge, La, and a lifelong resident of Gonzales passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the age of 92. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Mark Gautreau (Debbie), Todd Gautreau (Lynn), and Tracie Ann Waguespack (Butch); six grandchildren, Carrie Wolfe (Chris), Christen Willis (Hal), Jason Fontenot, Zachary Gautreau, Adam Waguespack (Amanda), Austen Waguespack (Jaymie); and nine great-grandchildren, Ethan, Owen and Anna Wolfe, Ellie and Avery Willis, Blakely Fontenot, Remi and Nora Waguespack, and Mercedes Bragg. She is also survived by a sister, Carol G. Frederic (Frank), one brother-in-law, Carol J. Gautreau, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Harold Gautreau; her parents, Tracy Joseph, and Drusella Smith Gautreau; sisters-in-law, Melba G. Thomas, Ethelyn Gautreau, Ouida B. Gautreau, Peggy H. Gautreau, and Sharla L. Gautreau, and brother-in-law Leon “Nap” Gautreau. Lorraine was a devout catholic and a lifetime parishioner of St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church. She and Harold enjoyed life to the fullest by spending time with their children and grandchildren, dancing the night away, and traveling with friends. Her love of cooking, entertaining, and gardening was appreciated and enjoyed by all who knew her; for many years she was a very active member of the Gonzales Garden Club and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Visitation will be on Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 9:30 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 pm at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church Gonzales, followed by burial at Hope Haven Mausoleum, Gonzales. Pallbearers will be Adam Waguespack, Austen Waguespack, Zachary Gautreau, Jason Fontenot, Chris Wolfe, and Hal Willis. The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation and gratitude to her dedicated caregivers Margie Pourciau, Linda Rouyea, Kathy McDonald, Olga Thornton, Tammy Hebert, and Amedysis Hospice for their compassionate care and unselfish love. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church Food Pantry, 1022 N. Burnside Ave. Gonzales, La, or the charity of your choice.
